In response to an ever-increasing demand from readers, the second edition has undergone thirteen reprints, on an average two per year, since it was published in 1994. However, a work of this kind needs periodic review and updating because of several reasons. The rapid accumulation of knowledge and expansion of business activities demand better academic preparation to meet the needs of today and the challenges of tomorrow. This fact and the feedback from extensive pragmatic teaching in the classroom prompted me to update, revise and enlarge the present volume. Some significant changes, which the users may specially welcome, are briefly described below.
